Right after midnight on Wednesday, Banglamung’s Sheriff Chaowalit Saeng-u-tai, assisted by the Deputy In charge of Suppressions Mr. Pongsatid Pijanan led over 50 Administration officials and civilian volunteers to surround, and enter for searching, a targeted building on Soi Buakhao, in back of Soi X’cite Disco. The Sheriff had received an order from Chonburi’s Governor Komsan Ekachai to investigate this building, as a range of complaints had been sent to the Governor’s website identifying this building as a major gambling nest, and operating in defiance of the law for a while.
The Sheriff collected enough evidence to enter the building, and the gatekeeper, Mr. Isarak Wang-ka-mon-sart, aged 21 was apprehended. All the gamblers rapidly fled the scene, as there is always a lookout to alert the gamblers when the police approach.
This 3 storey attached shop-building was divided in to 2 zones, a gambling area and a resting place for the lookouts. The police impounded 3 big hi-lo tables with 30 dice and their accessories, 600 sheets for football gambling, 5 computers, 3 printers, 5 calculators, 2 TV’s, 6 CCTV cameras, 3 money trays, 368,010 baht in cash, an 11 mm gun with bullets, and finally, some marijuana and bong.
From questioning the Doorman, the police found that between 40-50 gamblers entered the building to speculate every day, and millions of baht in cash flowed in and out daily. Further investigations continue to locate the owner of the building and the proprietor of the gambling operation.
