In order to celebrate the Thai national holiday, Vesakha Bucha Day, on Monday, a combined meditation walk and race was organised by the Tourism Authority of Thailand and Pattaya City Hall. The route began and ended at the Big Buddha Hill on Pratamnak Road. Vesakha Bucha celebrates the enlightenment of Lord Buddha 2,555 years ago in India. After the race trophies were handed to the winners and a parade took place for all those who took part to walk three times around the huge Buddha image on top of the hill overlooking Pattaya Bay.
