As the fine for prostitution in public is only 100 baht, it seems likely that beach prostitution will always continue. Nevertheless, on Saturday at 1: 30 am, Pattaya Suppression Police and many police volunteers, led by Deputy Suppression Inspector Pol. Lt. Pallop Ring-rod, patrolled Pattaya Beach. The officers arrested over 50 prostitutes along the seashore, who have acquired the new moniker of “Coconut Ghosts”, as they enjoy sitting under the palm trees at night. They were fined 100 baht each and documented before being freed. These arrests are to ameliorate Pattaya’s reputation, and for the safety of all.
