One of Jomtien’s most popular bars, Maggie Mays was raided by police after a surveillance operation by undercover agents on Sunday evening.  Mr. Anthony McNolly, aged 57 from England and his Thai wife were arrested for illegally setting up a football gambling operation at their guest house and bar in Jomtien.  A foreign undercover agent was sent to blend in with the customers before the Euro 2012 football game between Holland and Portugal began on Monday.   Marked 2,000 baht notes were handed over to Mr. McNolly at which point a signal was given for police to enter the premises.   The couple pleaded guilty to regularly holding gambling sessions in the bar for nearly 10 years, since opening in 2003. They were taken to Dongtan police station for legal processing.
