On Tuesday after midnight, the Pattaya Police and Police Volunteers led by Deputy Suppressing Inspector Pol. Capt. Supawat Lattapreecha set a checkpoint to monitor criminal activities and narcotics use at the intersection of Soi Thai Udom with Soi Potisarn, in Naklua. The police spotted 3 men, riding a Yamaha Fino and about to pass through the checkpoint, and unexpectedly, they decided to accelerate and zip through the checkpoint without stopping, but the driver lost control and spilled the bike.
2 of them managed to get away, but Mr. Miti Niraan, aged 26 from Chachoengsao province, was arrested. Additional investigations showed that this motorcycle had been stolen from Soi Naklua 20 about a month ago, and belonged to Miss Tasaluck Tongkaam, aged 22, a hotel employee in soi 20. Mr. Miti denied the charge of theft, but his urine tested positive for narcotics. Further investigations and legal proceedings were started regarding the motorcycle theft, along with the 14 drug users arrested at the checkpoint in North Pattaya.
