Windsurfing Association of Thailand Heads to 2012 Olympics
On Tuesday afternoon at the Krua Surf Kitchen on Jomtien Beach Road, the President of the Windsurfing association Mr. Ittipon Khunpleum, hosted a press conference. He was accompanied by the President of Chonburi’s Provincial Sports Association, Mr. Sontaya Khunpleum, the Former Vice Chairman of Chonburi’s Administration Office Mr. Rewat Ponlook-in and one of the main supporters of the association, Mrs. Malinee Inchat. Mayor Ittipon announced the preparations required and the names of the windsurfers who will represent Thailand in the upcoming 2012 Olympics in Waymart, England, from July 27th – August 12th, and the ISAF Youth World Tournaments from July 10th – 21st.
Thailand took 2 Silver and 1 Copper medals at the Big Techno 293 Category, at the Asean Beach Games 2012 in China, during June 16 – 23. 3 out of the 6 windsurfers sent to represent Thailand brought home the “gold”, Mr. Nawin Singsart, Mr. Nattapong Potinoparat and Miss Siriporn Gaew-duang-ngaam.
Mayor Ittipon also revealed the names of the coaching team, which will be headed up by Mr. Dechopon Pua-nu-goon-nan. He is the force behind the windsurfers climb to fame, and we are now witnessing Thailand moving up on the surfing competitions chart.
