Nongprue sub police station received a call on Wednesday morning about a shooting incident that had occurred in front of a Thai restaurant on Soi MabYai. Officers went to the scene immediately to find the owner of the restaurant, 59 year old Mr. Tewarit. He admitted to firing a gun which he kept for protection, because he had been robbed three nights in a row. That night he was awaken by a noise coming from his backyard storeroom. He grabbed his gun and carefully stepped out of his bedroom and moved to the storeroom where he saw a male teenager rummaging through his stock with another young man waiting nearby on a motorcycle with its engine running. Mr. Tewarit shouted and fired at them 3 times as they escaped with 3 cans of Coke. A report was made but no lead could be found to find the thieves.
