On Thursday at Pattaya City Hall, the Head Permanent Secretary of City Hall Mr. Wuttipon Jarernpon held a meeting to prepare all the relevant authorities for the upcoming Pattaya Marathon of 2012. The great race will be held on Sunday, July 15th starting and finishing at the beach in front of Central Festival Pattaya Beach Mall. The winner will be awarded a trophy from HM the King.

There will be 4 racing categories this year, the full Marathon for 42.195 km, Half Marathon for 21.100 km, Students for 3.550 km and Wheelchairs racers for 42.195 km. The runners will be using Pattaya Beach Road, Walking Street, 2nd and 3rd Roads, Jomtien Beach and 2nd Jomtien 2nd Roads, Soi Chaiyapreuk and Wat Boon Road, as well as Sukhumvit and North Pattaya Road.

The Marathon will start at 3 am on Sunday, July 15th, and the authorities have taken on the task of making sure the marathon ends by 10 AM, to prevent any traffic jams.

Amateur athletes seeking to challenge themselves will travel to Thailand this July to take part in the Pattaya Marathon 2012. This race through one of the nation's most popular tourist spots, will cater to people of various levels of running experience. Keen runners can choose to take part in full marathon, half marathon or quarter marathon races, and that is open to anyone aged between 14 and 70 or over.

The Full Marathon racers will set off at 04:20 local time in front of Central Festival Pattaya Beach, the Half Marathon at 05:00 AM, the Quarter Marathon 05:30 AM.  The winners of each category will receive special prizes and a trophy.

Quarter marathon competitors will receive a shirt and a racing number to keep as souvenirs, while those taking part in the full or half marathon will also be given commemorative hats and bags.
