On Sunday, the King’s Cup Pattaya Marathon 2012 began at the front of Central Festival Pattaya Beach Mall, after the Grand Opening was conducted by the Vice President of Athletic Association of Thailand, Gen. Lert-raht Ra-ta-na-waa-nit, accompanied by Mayor Ittipon Khunpleum and the First Minister of Tourism and Sports. Hundreds of athletes from all around the world signed up for this 21st Marathon in Pattaya, to compete for prizes worth over 2 million baht, as well as the elegant trophies donated by HM the King Bhumibon.
The results were as follows:
The 42.195 Km Marathon was won handily by Mr. Lawrence Kiptoo Saina from Kenya, who was the Champion in last year’s Marathon, however, he was unable to achieve a new record time for his run.
The Half Marathon 21. 1 Km: Mrs. Euzaeth Jeruiyoj Chemweno from Kenya.
Thai Men Marathon: Mr. Amnuay Tong-mit. Thai Women Marathon: Miss Nataya Ta-na-roen-wat.
Men Half Marathon Overall: Mr. Jaran Jupor. Women Half Marathon Overall: Miss Sontiya Sai-waeo.
Men Quarter Marathon: Mr. Natawut Im-noom. Woem Quarter Marathon: Miss Berhon Bekcle.
Wheelchair Marathon 42.195 Km:Mr. Prawat Manoroem (the previous champion)
