On Tuesday afternoon, the Huay Yai Police Investigating Inspector Pol. Lt. Col. Saney Yod-roong-reuang received a report of a corpse found in a Eucalyptus Farm in Huay Yai, along Route 331 (Korat-Sattahip) in the Pong Sub-district area. The Sawang Boriboon Rescue Team also went to help. At the scene, off Route 331 and some 500 meters deep into the Eucalyptus farm, the officers discovered tire tracks running 20 meters into the grass. The tracks led to the spot where the corpse of a man, aged around 30-35, about 165-170 cm tall, was wrapped in a light blue mattress, with his head covered by light blue and bloody bed sheet.
The police opened up the mattress and found a male corpse wearing a brown t-shirt with the word “Grandness” written above a picture of an eagle, and a pair of shorts. The body had decomposed and the strong smell pervaded the area. His head had been hit with a hard object, as shown by a big wound, and there was a robe clinging to his neck. The unfortunate man was estimated to be dead for 2-3 days. There were no documents or evidence on the body, only a 1 baht coin and part of a screwdriver that was dropped at the scene.
The farmer, who discovered the body, Mr. Sorn Tep-ban-darn, aged 62, stated that he came across the corpse while driving his 6 wheel-truck through the farm, but he had no other useful information. Further investigations started immediately, as this body was most likely murdered elsewhere, and the killers dumped the body in this area to sidetrack the police.
