Firstly on Tuesday 19th July we started with a smaller field than usual due to the rest of the week’s events. So playing on the Mountain and Lake course for the first time for a long time we set off in three groups on a fairly nice day. We were pleasantly surprised at the good condition of the course, which is improving day by day. Winning today with a fine knock (well I thought so) was myself Mike Garrard with 37 points followed closely by Graham Ellis with another fine knock of 36 points. Sadly there was not enough in the pot to award a third place which would have gone to Tim Mason.

 However, one of the two near pins went to Tim with the other going to Graham Ellis. To Royal Hills Golf for a two day tournament. We started off on the first day in reasonably dry conditions, but that soon turned to heavy showers and then continuous heavy rain. This caused most players to just endure the day with the exception of two of the group. Big John Bartley murdered the front nine with a fine 20 points only to surrender slightly on the back nine with another 13 points. However, this was enough to secure first place on the day with a total of 33 points. Just behind was one of our guests Bob Rasmusson with 32 points. With a stunning final 5 holes (doubling his score) Stuart Gordon managed to accumulate 30 points to finish third. Second Day: Rain. The three main winners: DAY 1.
