New Car and Boat Parking Scheme
Mr. Jak Jantarapratin, Senior Executive Director of the Malindo Company went to City Hall in the afternoon of 23rd April to see
Mayor Niran Wattanasartsatorn to suggest a plan for a building that can be used for car and boat parking, which is a brand new idea in Thailand that could solve parking space and traffic problems in Pattaya. After viewing the plan Mayor Niran told reporters that “this plan is considered very useful since many already know that at the moment there are more and more speedboats parked around Bali Hai Pier and the space is getting smaller and smaller everyday. This is a problem especially for people who travel to Koh Larn and other islands since they need a car parking space and the space that we have now is not enough. This is why this plan of constructing a building to take in all the boats and cars seems like the solution to the problems. When a boat comes in, they will go in the elevator and be parked at each of their floors. At the moment City Hall is still negotiating with this construction company about the budget of construction. The most convenient location seems to be at Bali Hai Pier. The second location for constructing a building for car park is at Pattaya School No. 8 since a lot of traffic occurs around there. People that travel to Walking Street have problems on finding a car park space and they park beside the road, which makes the traffic even worse. This is one way how we can solve that issue. At the moment City Hall are studying into more details of both constructions and both should be started by 2009 and completed in 2010 – 2011”.
