King Taksin the Great Monument
On the 27th of May at 10.30am at the Kao Pra yai on Pratumnak Hill, Deputy Governor of Chonburi Khun Komsan Ekkachai officially laid the foundation stone for the construction of the King Taksin the Great Monument.
The event was attended by many dignitaries including Mayor Niran Wattanasartsathorn Khun Tawit Chaisawangwong, Chairman of Pattaya City Council and Police Colonel Noppadol Sornsamran Mayor Niran gave a speech about the background and objective of the construction of the King Taksin Monument. Formerly the statue of King Taksin was situated at the front of the Pattaya City Hall Building, but there was lack of room for people who come to worship the statue. City Hall asked for approval from the Navy base to build the statue and open a museum to honour King Taksin at the Kao Pra Yai. This construction will be a new attraction for not only Thai people but also for foreign tourists who visit Pattaya. After the speech a Buddhist religious ceremony was made.
