The Roi Lang Community

Pattaya City Hall Community Deeds

Mr. Praphan Tinnarong, committee advisor in the Roi Lang Community, stated that after he retired from government work in 1987 he moved into

Roi Lang and does everything that he can to help the residents in this community. In 1972 the Krungthep Karnkeha Pattana Company raised 29 Rai of land to build 144 houses for 1,566 residents originally called Yodsak Niwet Village and now called Roi Lang Village.

Pattaya City Hall, the prime organizers together with various non-governmental organizations takes the “Portable service project” around to the 27 communities in Pattaya with practical information and advice and offering services such as eye tests and dental checks.  The Rotary Club of Pattaya has been on three of these community outings and on Thursday, 24th May, they were invited to go along to Roi Lang and in addition to what City Hall gave The Rotary Club of Pattaya donated 15,000 Baht worth of commodities such as rice and household items to the Roi Lang Community. Mr. Praphan stated that Roi Lang has many distinctive points, the most important thing is there are absolutely no drug activities taking place in this community because every single household has been taken care of.

The only problem this community has for the past 10 years is about water shortages. Mr. Praphan stated “It has been already 10 years that I have to wake up from 4 am to pump water for the residents in the community to use”.  He filed a complaint to the Banglamung Waterworks Authority about this matter but the response was because Roi Lang Community is up on a hill the power is not enough to push the water through to the community. He said “Every time I contact them, they keep saying that they are trying to fix it. I have moved into this community for 20 years and have never seen the water system working properly. The only hours with normal water running is between 3-4 am. I have to wake up to pump the water into a 2,000 litre tank for the residents to use but again, it only lasts for 4 days”. Let us hope that the authorities respond and construct a permanent water supply so that Mr. Praphan can spend the rest of his life sleeping at night instead of getting up to pump water in the middle of the night.
