Three world draught champions got together in Jomtien, Russian draughts player Alexej Tsjizjow competed against his two biggest opponents; Slawa Sjtsjocholjew, also from Russia, and Pim Meurs from the Netherlands. Sjtsjocholjew was world champion in 1960 and was champion of the Veterans at the 2^nd Thailand Open 2006. Pim Meurs is the recent world champion in the young players’ category (under 19 years old).

Approximately 20 other players took part in the game from Holland, South America, Russia and Germany. This International Draughts Tournament is sponsored by Tulip House, Jomtien Garden Hotel, Camel Bar, and Deano’s Wine Bar and Bistro.
