July Events in Banglamung

Banglamung Council of Cultural Affairs’ Events

At 11.30 am on 19th June Mr. Surat Mekhawarakul, President of Banglamung Council of Cultural Affairs, chaired a meeting with the board members and people involved at Mike

Beach Resort in Pattaya Soi 4 to discuss preparations for the Council’s upcoming events in July.

Banglamung Council of Cultural Affairs together with Wat Chaimongkhon Temple Pattaya will present a candle ceremony for the Buddhist Lent 2007 at Wat Chaimongkhon. This event is for both residents and tourists to make merit and do religious activities together to help continue the traditional ceremonies of Thailand.

And since this year HM the King will turn 80; it is planned for there to be 81 candles paraded to honor him on that day (1 more than his upcoming age for good luck).

The ceremony will start on 8th July where they will start producing the candles. On 9th July there will be a contest for children; divided into two groups; 4-8 years old and 9-12 years old, to find the child who presents the best performance on traditional Thai culture, and then they will go back to finishing off and complete the 81 candles.
