Caf De Beach

We took a trip to the far end of Jomtien Beach Road where an exciting new Thai Restaurant has just opened. It is the Cafe De Beach, which can boast a fantastic location right on the Jomtien beach front between Sois 15 and 16.
This very contemporary restaurant, which is run by Thai owners Khun Phanlap and Khun Lek, offers an excellent selection of both traditional classic and modern Thai recipes. They also serve a good variety of freshly made to order gourmet sandwiches, and freshly brewed coffee and tea throughout the day. One can eat either inside the dining and lounge area or enjoy a meal al fresco outside under palm trees in the large garden area with a wonderful panoramic view of Jomtien Beach and the sea. They even have their own sand bank with deckchairs to relax and listen to the cool jazz playing in the background and unwind as one enjoys one of their excellent cocktail creations. The Cafe De Beach is open from 4.00pm (noon on Sunday) until 2.00am every day and has already established itself with a very good reputation, not only with the local Thai residents but also tourists who got word of the excellent authentic Thai cuisine served here. The menu is quite extensive with a great choice of spicy and fragrant recipes to tempt the taste buds, from delicious salads and soups to tasty meat, fish and vegetable dishes using an array of herbs and spices essential to Thai cuisine: Galangal, Coriander, Kaffir leaves, Limes, Lemongrass, Tamarind and Shrimp paste. We tried six impeccably cooked dishes from the menu. First off we tried the house appetizer platter (180 baht); a combination of bite size pieces of grilled Pork and Chicken, Roasted Peanuts and slices of mild spicy Chiang Mai Pork Sausage and Ginger. This was followed by what is probably becoming a national dish, Somtam Moo Yang (100 baht), a delicious spicy tasting Green Papaya Salad with Grilled Pork. Next to arrive was a vegetarian dish called Yam Hed, (90 baht); which was a very tasty Mixed Mushroom Salad with a Lime and Chili dressing and served with Kaffir leaves. Then came a house specialty, a great tasting dish called Homok (180 baht). Basically this is a Thai Souffle of Minced Shrimp combined with Kaffir Lime rind, Garlic, Coriander, Galangal, Curry paste, and Coconut milk. The Fish dish was the very popular Pla Kapong (240 baht), a whole Sea Bass grilled to perfection with fragrant Thai Herbs. The final dish to follow was worth waiting for, Tomka Talay (180 baht); a Coconut Cream Soup filled with a variety of Seafood, including Prawns, Squid and Mussels. All in all the Cafe De Beach offers a very exciting and delicious eating experience. If you are lovers of Thai cuisine then go along and pay a visit to this excellent new restaurant on the beach. They also offer free WiFi internet service to their customers. There is excellent parking space at rear of the restaurant. Telephone: 087-600-5511 or 038-706-511.
