THANKSGIVING  (21/11/2008 08:55:47)
Author: Koto.
After all the bickering with the US elections and with Thanksgiving upon us, this is just a reminder that there is always light at the end of the tunnel. It is just how you lay out the ground work and before the story, let me be the first to wish us all Health and Happiness, Melekalikimaki and Hauoli Makahiki Hou: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Everyone. Here goes: A man in Phoenix calls his son in New York the day before Thanksgiving and says, “I hate to ruin your day, but I have to tell you that your mother and I are divorcing; 45 years of misery is enough.” “Pop, what are you talking about?” the son screams. “We can't stand the sight of each other any longer” the father says. “We're sick of each other, and I'm sick of talking about this, so you call your sister in Chicago and tell her.” Frantic, the son calls his sister, who explodes on the phone. “Like heck they're getting divorced,” she shouts, “I'll take care of this.” She calls Phoenix immediately, and screams at her father, “You are NOT getting divorced. Don't do a single thing until I get there. I'm calling my brother back, and we'll BOTH be there tomorrow. Until then, don't do a thing, DO YOU HEAR ME?” and hangs up. The old man hangs up his phone and turns to his wife. “Okay, they're coming for Thanksgiving and paying their own way.” Koto.
SEA URCHINS  (21/11/2008 08:54:43)
Author: KOTO, Keeper of the Ocean.
Aloha! A Sea Urchin here, a Sea Urchin there, Sea Urchins everywhere. Be careful when walking on the beach, there has been quite a few Sea Urchins drifting to the shore line, some just have short brittle spines on them, some longer. Try to avoid stepping on them, show them to your children so they know what they look like. Somewhat painful but not life threatening it just hurts, not enough to keep you off the beach. Just be careful where you put your feet and make sure you only leave footprints in the sand: Pack it in, Pack it out.    "Every Litter Bit Hurts".   "Don't Trash where You Splash". Sea urchins just leave some spines in the skin. Don't worry too much about these. Be very careful and gentle when you try to pull them out, but don't be alarmed if they break and stay in the wound as they usually do. They're extremely brittle. However, the body will absorb them in a day to a few weeks, or else they will work themselves out on their own. You're usually better off not doing anything but trying to pull out any that you reasonably can, applying antiseptic and seeing a doctor, and just waiting for it to heal, which may take a month. "The Life of the People is in Our Hearts and Shows in the Land". I hope this is of some help to the beachgoers. Health and Happiness!
Learning English  (14/11/2008 09:37:01)
Author: .....................................
NSO Ladies at Asian University Twenty seven ladies from the National Statistical Office, mostly from Bangkok, have just completed a special weekend English language programme at Asian University, to improve their English communication skills. They have been at the university for eight weekends, arriving Friday morning and leaving Sunday midday with fourteen hours of class each week. The ladies were all very keen students, and their attendance record was exemplary. They stayed on the campus, alongside the regular university students, and, outside class times, they were able to walk on campus and use the sports facilities to keep themselves fit. Some of the ladies had been on several other courses and commented that the Asian University course compared favourably. They particularly liked having native speaker teachers, and appreciated the teachers’ patience. Several mentioned the variety of ways in which they learnt English, using songs and games; some of these methods were new to them and they found that having fun enhanced the learning process. The ladies learnt in two groups (different levels), so there was plenty of opportunity to practice their speaking and listening with each other. The course was run especially for the NSO staff, as a part of the English Immersion programme.
Confused repetitious parrot  (14/11/2008 09:34:56)
Author: Tony Crossley.
Editor, may I correct some wrong conclusions that a confused and repetitious parrot that would go round in circles until the next US election has drawn. ‘Bob’ assumes I have dealings with another of his critics because my book publishing firm is named after a person with the same surname as unrelated Jack Tighe’s. In an opening dedication in ‘The Butterfly Circus’ I reveal that my mentor passed on some time ago. Bob seems not to understand that diverse people can think similarly. He says he can’t find anything by me about the Catholic Church being “a worldwide paedophile ring”, yet in a previous ‘Bonkers & Blinkered’ letter about Bob I said that a moralistic policy in guiding sexual behaviour has been shown not to work by Catholic priests. That is how they got into the issue, as if Bob doesn’t know why they have so shown he must be the only person on the planet who doesn’t. God got into the issue via Sarah Palin, she and the wisdom of choosing her being the original subject. Bob diverted from it, and with re-repeated droning exposed himself as being out of his depth. On and on and on he goes about ‘war hero’, but to warrant that title some people need more than surviving a situation the person had no control of. Bob asks where he saying that child-abuse is okay came from, forgetting that he answered the racism he was accused of with referral to my denouncement of paedophilia, inferring latter was no worse. He put his own foot in that poop. The attitude of me and many people to the Catholic Church comes from not just its warped sexual values and paedophilia that has clearly been at its core for centuries, but from the cover-up that has gone on (Bush gave the pope immunity from prosecution). Bob asks Jack for substantiation of Bush’s “mission from God”. Jack got it from my book, in which I liken Bush’s “God has given me a mission to free Iraq” – I witnessed the turnip say it on the BBC – to Hitler’s “I believe I am acting with the will of the Almighty Creator”. What Bob profoundly achieved was to reveal his noxious character by saying he resorts to distortion to drive opponents crazy. He flatters himself in thinking his garbled misconceptions worked. Only someone who is crazy and small-minded would admit, as Bob did, to not understanding why people change their personal presentation. Many do it and clearly it worked for Obama. Change tracks, Bob. The one you’re on is over your head.
Its Over!  (07/11/2008 06:53:01)
Author: Bob, Pattaya
Editor- The election in the USA is now over, so hats off to the winner and next President of the USA. In early September, many a Democrat started writing letters to "Opinion of the Reader" in support of Hussein Obama for President of the USA. I took great  exception to the personal attacks being made in these letters that  were: vicious and untrue attacks on an American Hero of the Viet War, Senator  McCain; the stupid attempts to compare Bush and Nixon to Hitler, the man who  set out to enslave all of Europe and kill all the Jews (he did murder 6 million); and mimic the left wing sexist assault of Move On, Daily Kos and others that was being made on Sarah Palin and had been used  against Hillary Clinton during the Democrat Primary. I answered many of  those comments and disproved most with facts, not like the one liners and  distorted views of history that were being written. J.Tighe objected to my long winded letters. Yes Jack, I know it is cumbersome for you to read factual information written in more than a few sentences, based on many of the ridiculous statements you have made so far in your letters. Many of the writers say I am a "Racist" and a "Bigot" based on me using Obama’s middle name, Hussein. First, it is a name that was proudly given to him by his Muslim father, the same middle name as his father, and a name that is on Obama's birth certificate. I use it for a few reasons. One, it drives the  left wing nut attack dogs, like Jack, Tony etc., crazy. Sort of a taste of their own medicine! Works every time! Second, I cannot understand why Obama turns his back on his heritage. He should be proud of once being a Muslim for at least 10 years, yet he denies that and has renounced his Muslim religion and became a Christian. Speaking of bigots, my gosh  Tony and Jack, how did you ever get God, Christians, Catholic Religion and Child abuse-paedophiles into this election. McCain and Palin are not Catholics. Senator Joe Biden is a Catholic. Jack writes about Tony talking about the worldwide paedophile Catholic Church ring. Yet, I cannot find any such writing by Tony. But of course, Tony and Jack are at least business associates, and maybe friends, so that could be where Jack got that. So then Jack, where do you get that I say sexually abusing children is ok? Jack, kind of a very strong unsubstantiated statement would you not say? Then why do you two bigots single out the Catholic Church? Why not look at Teacher abuse of children as reported in the AP story 10/07, "Sexual Misconduct Plague US Schools"? Over 2,500 educators were found guilty of abuse of children in a 5 year period. But then again, that does not fit Jack and Tony's political agenda since the vast majority of teachers in USA are Democrats as is the National Teachers Union. Or maybe talk about the Democrat Legal arm, the ACLU, which vigorously defends NAMDA. Or Jack, you moved and live in Thailand but seemingly have no problem with child abuse problems in Thailand where it has been reported that the trafficking in children is an 11 billion dollar a year business. No problem with that Jack, a quiet acceptance? Then Tony and Jack go onto their "mission from God" or "task from God" question (get together guys and at least say the same thing). I answered that already, but here it goes again. Tony and Jack, you use an incomplete statement from Palin, try the whole truth. You can view exactly what Palin said on You Tube, an unedited version, where she states "Pray that our leaders are sending them (troops) out on a task that is from God and to pray that the leaders plan is aligned with God’s wishes". There is nothing radical w
Oh Mr. Bob!  (03/11/2008 04:07:39)

Mr. Bob did really think that Mr. Nixon ended the Vietnamese war. That is what they teach you in the States, may be, but we in Europe really know better. And you think we Europeans agreed to go into Iraq pretending to fight terrorism and look for weapons, which were never there? It is sad enough already that our "small" countries want to walk the way "big" America does, because it is the war (sorry) wrong one. Maybe you will find out now, now the money is finished and you can start to discuss how Mr. Bush did get you into this crisis.  Stop trying to rule the world; it’s over!
Over and Out  (03/11/2008 04:07:00)
Author: Jack Tighe.
Editor, A full page for yet another of Bob’s re-repeated rambles? (25th Oct.) His letter’s resolution could again have been improved and space 50% reduced with removal of repetitions. However, he asked me a question and I trust I will be allowed a final reply (I need less wordage). Bob questioned my saying the Taliban were not in Iraq until Bush opened the door. That I should have put Al Qaeda benefits Bob’s case nothing, as a Taliban -Al Qaeda link is far stronger than either and Saddam. Latter was a lie to sell war, and the point is that as well as Bush handing Bin Laden a second victory as regards suicide-bomber recruitment, the best to be achieved is vastly swelling Dick Cheyney’s coffers at public expense, and sending Iraq back to pre-Saddam days. Anyway, the debate was not about that conflict or others, or John McCain’s or Obama Barack’s merits, but the worth as a possible US president of a woman who uses a god to excuse a war started with lies. Bob is blind to the fact that Sarah Palin’s “task from God” is exactly the same as ‘holy jihad’, so if as he said the former is “a fundamental element of Christian and Jewish ideology”, it follows that these faiths are no different to Islamist fanaticism. That is the truism, as anyone who thinks a war can be a god’s will is a lunatic. Yet again, Bob self-displayed his intellect limits. Hanging tags on people who say what he finds disagreeable is merely a tactic of empty-heads to ignore evidence supporting an opposing view. He needs to understand that the rest of the world doesn’t see Republicans or Democrats starting wars on a false premise, but ‘America’. However, many Americans and far more Europeans liken Bush and Nixon to Hitler. The Bangkok Post recently reviewed a book titled ‘How Bush’s War on Terror Turned Into A War On American Ideals’. He even defied the supreme head of his alleged faith, a saint-in-waiting no less, to go on a killing spree. If Bob’s thinking says Nixon is innocent because a conviction was precluded by a pardon, he must also consider un-convicted Hitler innocent. OJ Simpson too, not convicted of murders everyone knows he committed! All nonsense of course! Without conscience causing the death of one person makes a sociopath, and Bob uses numbers gleaned from a website to disguise his inability to see straight. He confirms he is the average voter that Winston Churchill said a 5-minute talk with is the best argument against democracy. In aligning Bush to infamous killers, I join local and international authors, as well as Americans who are the nation’s saving grace. Bob is joined by someone who moans about litter but approves of carpet-bombing and slaughter of innocents. To show I’m not sexist, as Bob says I am for noting a woman’s foolishness, I begged Tony Crossley’s indulgence in quoting from his new book ‘Pattaya: the Good, the Bad & the Other’ (Pattaya Patty is fantastically sexy, TC).             Some men don’t like what is new,             Their ship has run aground,             They fear to try each byway,             Squares in a world that’s round.             - from ‘Some Men and Others’ by Sarah Wilde Doesn’t Ms Wilde sum up square Bob’s conservatism? It seems the original letter of ‘Bill’, which kicked the debate into play, made a good impression of Americans with the Brit author and it is referred to in the book. So is Bob’s reply. I think the phrase used is “full of ‘it’.” Over and out on him!
Fooled  (03/11/2008 04:06:16)

To Bob, Pattaya and your "It is you who is fooled, not me!” simply stated, every voter has the right to choose his candidate. Believing one is more right than the other and the fool becomes the one accusing the other of being the fool. Or are you saying you are a pro-dictator? With Smiles, Charles - Geneva
