Editor, Each time the person who signs himself ‘Bob’ writes one of his long-winded letters, he reveals his absurdity. He tries to play down the racism he displays by suggesting it is no worse than Tony Crossley’s denouncement of a worldwide paedophile ring? Is Bob saying that sexually abusing children is okay? On that point alone he confirms he is the blinkered and bonkers that Tony Crossley rightly called him. If any business had been exposed in a way the Catholic Church has, it would be the end of that business. On the issue of the Republican candidates, Bob has been outgunned by each of a number of other letter writers, yet he keeps replying with a long and tiresome list of inconsequential details. Being a prisoner of war does not make someone a hero, at least not to anyone who isn’t closed-minded, which Bob seems to think is clever. He underplays Nixon’s corruption, saying “Nixon quit over political dirty tricks”. They were his administration’s dirty tricks, of course, which he tried to cover up and which made him the only president in history that was forced to resign to avoid impeachment. Given these matters, it is Bob who is looking the stupid he calls others in attempt to rewrite history and bolster his ridiculous arguments in support of the looney Sarah Palin’s sponsor.

Editor. It is now four weeks on the trot that we have had excessively long dissertations from ‘Bob’, each adding no substance to the previous. I don’t say John McCain is a bad man, but having been a prisoner of war is totally irrelevant as regards his suitability as US president. Given his age, what is very relevant is his choice of running partner. Sarah Palin, like George Bush, justifies lies to the American people to sell the invasion of Iraq. For all Bob’s verbosity, which frankly I couldn’t take the time to plough through in detail; he did not address a simple [very important] question I asked: how is Palin’s ‘task from god’ different to fanatical ‘holy jihads’ like 9/11? Please, will Bob try to answer in just a couple of concise sentences? Anyone who can’t, yet supports McCain and Palin, is marked as extremely foolish. Truth is; common sense should tell even the simplest of minds that unless this god is a nasty piece of work and deliberately setting two sides against each other, both sides can’t be right. But both sides can be entirely wrong. Any sane person would know that no worthy god would have had anything to do with 9/11 or the invasion of Iraq. In not knowing, Palin and Bush are in exactly the same camp as Bin Laden. Who knows what this god will pop into the heads of these nutcases next! Palin, in particular, and her brain-dead supporters have reduced American politics to the level of American Idol. As for Bob using ‘Hussein’ in reference to Barack Obama, latter like anyone is entitled to use whatever name he chooses to and irrespective of what is stated on his birth certificate. My middle name is ‘John’ and I choose not to use it. If someone insisted upon using it in reference to me, I would regard the person as being purposely disrespectful and confrontational; these being ingrained tenets of Western culture that Obama is, admirably, attempting to overcome. Does Bob deny that he uses a name that Obama doesn’t use merely in attempt to stir up prejudice by making a link to Islamic extremists? That is precisely the tactic Bush used over the Iraq affair, drip-feeding a link to 9/11 when there was no link. Typical of Bob’s sort and which retards social structure, he has an ‘all-the-same’ mentality and thinks that only his side can tell the truth and only the other side tells lies. Take off the blinkers, Bob! One more thing! Along with rest and eating, sex is a fundamental necessity of life. There is nothing in human history that shows preaching ‘abstinence’ works. Quite the opposite! In fact, as Palin’s daughter evidences. And what about the growing numbers of men and women who choose not to marry? Are they supposed to be celibate all their lives? Catholic priests have taught us what that leads to. That is a simple fact, Bob. Again I say; if you throw your flag or badge away and open your mind, you might see many other things in the pictures you are looking at.

In the Opinion of the Readers section of the October 18 issue of Pattaya People, Jack Tighe is at it again. Jack’s idea of how I vote is as wrong as his view of his history is wrong. Jack, for your information, I voted for Ralph Nader in 2000 and 2004. It is you who is fooled, not me. I object any American President being compared to Hitler, who is to be ranked with the world’s most infamous killers in our time, Stalin and Mao. Your selective picking of Nixon and Bush, both Republican Presidents are a political rather than an historical choice. You forgot Lyndon Johnson, LBJ. It was in August 1964 when LBJ lied about the Gulf of Tonkin incident to expand the Vietnam War. In 1964, USA troop level was at 23,300, and in 1968 when LBJ was embarrassed into not seeking re-election, troop levels were at 536,000. In 1964, 206 US troops died in Vietnam and by 1968, LBJ's last year, death total was up to 16,589. Nixon took office in 1969, and started to end the war and turn military operations over to the S. Viet army. When Nixon ran for re-election in 1972, the yearly death toll was down to 640 and troop levels had gone from 536,000 in 68 to 24,000 in 1972. In April 1970, Nixon bombed Cambodia and sent in troops to wipe out N. Viet supply bases and supply routes in Cambodia in order to cut US casualties and end the war. The Communists in Cambodia were becoming a power in 1964, when with the help of the N. Viets, the Khmer Rouge movement took hold and grew because of the repression of Sihanouk, not the bombing of Cambodia by Nixon in 1970. Get a grip on history Jack! There are no American Presidents that fit the mould of Hitler, Mao or Stalin, only the ones you fit in with your political bull. Nixon, as history shows, brought down the troop levels and causalities pulled out all the troops from Vietnam. Nixon was never convicted or tried of any crimes. Ford pardoned Nixon of any crimes he may have committed while in office of which the only possible crimes were those in connection with "Watergate" a Political Break in at Democrat Headquarters. Hardly a crime equal to the war crimes of LBJ and the BIG LIE of the Gulf of Tonkin, which cost thousands of American troops their lives. Then, Jack, not to be forgotten your incomplete statement of Sarah Palin! You took 3 words, "mission of god" and used that against Palin. Palin whole statement, which can be viewed on any unedited video of her presentation states, quote "Pray that our leaders are sending them (troops) out on a task that is from God and to pray that the leader’s plan is aligned with God’s wishes" There is nothing radical about this sentiment at all - it is a fundamental element of mainstream Christian and Jewish theology. In secular terms, the concept is also a truism - it's important to do the right things, not just to do things right. There seems some unhappy Democrats with me calling Obama by the name his father proudly gave him Hussein Obama, which is on his birth certificate. Obama wants to denounce his heritage, wants to renounce he born a Muslim and was a Muslim till he was at least 10 years old. There is nothing wrong with being a Muslim, so why does Hussein Obama lie about his past and renounce that he at least was a Muslim till he renounced his Muslim faith by becoming a Christian when he joined Rev Wright's church? My comments are true, being neither "racist" nor "bigoted". Please prove it otherwise. PS: Jack - your statement of the "Taliban weren't even in Iraq until he (Bush) opened the door". Er, gee, never knew the Taliban ever ended up fighting in Iraq. Know something we do not know Jack? .

Editor! In the last issue of Pattaya People, Opinion of Readers, two writers took exception to some of my prior letters. Bill and Tony Crossley, an author, play very loose with historical facts in their letters. Bill and Tony, "you are entitled to your opinions, but you are not entitled to your history". First, I find it despicable that the attacks are being made by Americans upon a decorated War Hero, Sen. John McCain. These attacks are not verified by any sources except the talking points of attack dogs of Hussein Obama. Sen. McCain was a Navy Pilot during the Viet War who was shot down, captured, and was held and tortured as a POW for over 5 years. McCain received the following Awards for his service; Silver Star, Legion of Merit-Combat V, Distinguished Flying Cross, Purple Heart, POW Medal and 8 other decorations. (Wikipedia). Then Bill, 1 & 2 -McCain did not give military secrets to Vietnam while POW. He gave his name and rank, ships name, and later gave names of old targets and names of Green Bay Packer linemen when asked names of fellow naval flyers. No secrets were given nor does Bill name anything. (AP-5/08) McCain lost 5 planes, where did you dream that up Bill? McCain lost a plane due to a plane accident - his fault. Then he hit some high tension wires, no damage to that plane. Then while on the deck of an aircraft carrier, a missile was fired by accident from another plane, not McCain's. Some 20 planes were lost, including McCain's as was extensive damage done to the carrier. Then plane 4 was shot down by a missile over N. Vietnam and he was captured and made a POW. (Wikipedia). Bill items 3 & 4: McCain's private life and his divorce. Democrats have no problems with Dem. President Clinton having oral sex in the White House with a White House intern, so why the false concern over McCain's divorce? Items 5, 6 & 7: Bill has selective short memory when he blames McCain on normalization of relations with Vietnam and USA. Those relations were started in the 90's, most of which with bi-partisan support of Congress and Democrat President Clinton, some of which are 2/94 Clinton lifts Viet trade embargo, 6/ 95 Veterans of Foreign Wars support normal relations with Vietnam, 6/95 Clinton announces normal relations with Vietnam, 4/97 Clinton sends Ambassador to Vietnam. In 2006, Sen. McCain, Sen. Kerry and other members of Congress co-sponsor bills for permanent normal trade with Vietnam. Forgot that Bill? Obama voted Yes on that Bill (source http://www.vietnam.usembassy.gov). Item 8: Bill short memory of facts. Keating five involved 4 Democrat Senators and One Republican Senator McCain. Sen. McCain was found not guilty and all charges were dropped as was against one Democrat Sen. Glenn, who now works for Obama. Double standards! (Source: Wikipedia). It was Democrats who said McCain is out of touch and is not able to use the internet. He cannot use internet, or has limited use due to war injuries, not due to stupidity as Democrats say. Tony- my history is selective - forget Bay on Tonkin? Forget Vietnam was Democrat war of JFK and LBJ - Democrat Presidents? Forget war was ended under Nixon's leadership? Draft ended under Nixon. Nixon quit over political dirty tricks, not lies like LBJ used to escalate Viet War that killed untold more thousands of US Troops, that caused LBJ to quit (Wikipedia). Tony - my racist fashion of calling Obama , Hussein Obama? His name on his birth certificate is Hussein Obama (see it on Obama's website). His father proudly gave his son the name of Hussein. Baht Bus Pickpockets Hello. I just wanted to alert your readers on how the baht bus pick pocket scam is working: Be aware of lady boys or women who have very large handbags on their lap when on the baht bus. Be especially aware if you see two or three especially at the tail end of the bus. The scam is they use this large purse or shopping bag on their lap to hide their attempts for theft. I am sure they hand off the lifted item to a second on third party on the bus when they all get off. It appears that this is done when you first get on within the first minute or so. Those of you who want to let them go for the bait, will find this approach is what they are doing as a scam to rip you off. The police volunteers who are not known should be going around and letting these people make their play. Be very aware of your situation when you board the baht bus. It has happened to me three times in the last two weeks in different parts of Pattaya. Mike.

To Bill in Pattaya and your "I mean the real news networks 700,000,000 billon dollar bailout recession". Sorry but it is much more than that. More than TRIPLE the amount you mentioned. Sorry again but, the EU is also bailing out for US$ 1.8 Trillion their financial system. Accusing the USA is a little bit amateurish and too easy. And why the USA is somewhat bottoming or not too far away, you haven’t seen anything yet. In the EU real estate so far is down only a little. Ohhhhhhhh...and Moscow! Their real estate price moved up by a factor of 6, since 2003. Barely moved so far! And China, real estate went up by 10-15% PER MONTH until mid 2007. If that is not a bubble, then what is a bubble? Last but not least, of the US$ 675 billion thus far written off, sorry but 40% was from NON U.S financial corporations, but from the EU financial industries. Accusing the USA ONLY seems to me dead wrong! For your information, in Morocco they did not offer 95% Mortgages and 5% down payments. Noooooo! They offered 110% Mortgages, so that people could also afford nicer furniture! In Spain! No problem, the mortgage rate is fixed yearly. Just think about it when on the yearly mortgage renewal, banks will increase the new rates to amortize some of the bad loans. Bill, we haven’t seen anything yet! People have a short memory. From 1995 to 2007 real estate tripled in the UK. Since then it is down around 9-10%. People forget that from 1990 to 1994 Real Estate there went down by 35%. We haven’t seen anything yet in real estate in the EU, Russia, Morocco, China, Singapore, Hong Kong, Brazil, Malaysia, all the Eastern countries, just to name a few. But the world will survive. And what is the world’s best currency during the next several years, the US DOLLAR? What was taken from them will be returned to them on a plate! People around the world are begging for US$. They will beg for more. This time it will be with loans, not IOUs! Think again: a loan against the IOUs. Later more loans against nothing! What will happen? World Currencies depreciation against the US$! Many countries will not be able to afford! The IMF is already ready if you read the financial news! Be bullish on the Greenback. Smile! Dear All, If you receive a phone call on your mobile from any person, saying that he or she is a company engineer, or telling that they're checking your mobile line, and you have to press #90 or #09 or any other number, end this call immediately without pressing any numbers. There is a fraud company using a device that once you press #90 or #09 they can access your 'SIM' card and make calls at your expense.
